2 NATO soldiers die in Afghanistan's embattled south

Two NATO soldiers died Monday in two separate incidents in southern Afghanistan, the alliance said in a statement. "One soldier was killed by enemy hostile action and another was killed in an improvised explosive device blast while supporting an Afghan National Police operation," the statement read. NATO did not disclose the nationalities of the dead soldiers or the exact location of the deaths. Separately, a suicide bomber in eastern Afghanistan struck a military patrol in Paktika province also on Monday, wounding four Afghan soldiers and a civilian translator working with the US-led coalition, said a provincial government spokesman Ghamai Mohammadyar.
