2 aid workers, 3 guides missing in Afghanistan

Two French aid workers and their three Afghan guides have gone missing in Afghanistan, the French Foreign Ministry said Wednesday. The ministry contacted the aid group Terre d'enfance, which said it had not heard from two volunteers from its Afghan mission or their guides since Tuesday morning. "The Foreign Ministry and our embassy in Kabul are following this matter closely and are in contact with local authorities, as well as the French NGO," ministry spokesman Denis Simonneau wrote in an online briefing Wednesday. It was not immediately clear where the workers were when they disappeared.
