Two policemen, including a senior officer, were killed and another wounded in a land mine explosion in Georgia's separatist province of Abkhazia Monday, officials said. The officer who was deputy chief of police for Abkhazia's Gali region died when his vehicle hit a landmine in the area, said Otar Khetsia, the interior minister in Abkhazia's separatist government. Another two officers who had accompanied him were hospitalized with wounds and one of them died later. Sergei Shamba, the foreign minister in Abkhazia's separatist government, blamed the explosion on Georgian authorities. "The Georgian leadership is doing all they can to incite tensions," he said. Shota Khizanishvili, the chief of staff of Georgia's Interior Ministry, rejected the allegations.
