Afghan policeman opens fire on US troops, kills 1

A NATO official says an Afghan policeman opened fire on US troops inside a police station and killed an American soldier. The official says the shooting took place Sunday after American troops and Afghan police brought militant suspects to the station. An officer already at the station in Paktia province then opened fire. The NATO official says the American troops fired back and killed the policeman. NATO released a statement on the incident Monday but did not say that an Afghan policeman shot a US soldier. NATO said only that there was an "altercation" that resulted in the deaths of an Afghan policeman and a NATO soldier.
