At least 24 killed as Mexican bus plunges off canyon road

At least 24 people were killed on Monday night when a bus plunged off a remote canyon road in central Mexico. The Hidalgo state attorney general's office said at least 20 other people were injured in the accident on a highway between the Gulf port city of Tampico and the nation's capital. Some of injured were helicoptered to the nearest hospital in the town of Pachuca, 75 miles away. Officials said the bus apparently lost control when one of its tires blew out. Investigations were continuing.
