Bangladesh: 8 stampede deaths in charity events

At least eight people were killed in two separate stampedes Saturday when hundreds of destitute Bangladeshis vied for charity clothing distributed ahead of a Muslim festival, news reports said. Another 16 people were injured in the stampedes, United News of Bangladesh and ATN Bangla television station reported. Most of the victims were women, they said.
