British Prime Minister Tony Blair said in an interview published Saturday that police believe they have stopped two attempted terrorist attacks since the July 7 bombings in London.
Blair gave no further details, but used the information to underline his case for controversial new anti-terror legislation, which many lawmakers in his governing Labour Party oppose.
"I still think there is a woeful complacency about a lot of the public debate about this," the prime minister was quoted as telling the Sunday Telegraph newspaper.
"The police told me, and the security services back them up, that they may have stopped two further attempts since July 7."
