Blair says religion has potential to harm, heal

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair said Friday that religious faith can be a double-edged sword, inspiring some people to do harm but also having the potential to ease conflicts. Blair, speaking to students and faculty at Yale University, also said the US financial crisis that is affecting worldwide markets shows "the interconnectedness of the world," he said, adding it underscores the need to work together on other economic problems. Blair visited New Haven to address Yale students in a lecture that kicked off the three-year "Faith and Globalization Initiative," a collaboration of the Tony Blair Faith Foundation and Yale's Divinity School and School of Management.
