A bomb threat forced hundreds of patients and staff to evacuate a Veterans Affairs hospital in Florida for about three hours Tuesday.
Bay Pines VA Healthcare System spokeswoman Faith Belcher said the complex reopened after it was searched by law enforcement officers and bomb-sniffing dogs. Critical care patients who would have been in greater danger if moved remained inside during the search.
The medical center received the bomb threat at 7:45 a.m. The campus has about 30 buildings covering roughly 300 acres (121.4 hectares).
