Canadian gets year in prison, 200 lashes from Saudi court

A Canadian citizen's father says that his 17-year-old son has been convicted of involvement in a murder and sentenced to a year in prison and 200 lashes. Ali Kohail said Saturday he plans to appeal the sentence and get it commuted to time served since his son, Sultan Kohail, has already spent the last eight months in prison. The case involves the killing of a Syrian in a school yard brawl last year. Ali's brother Mohammed was convicted of the murder and sentenced to death earlier in March.
