Czech-US missile defense talks to be concluded in days

The Czech Defense Ministry said on Friday that negotiations with the United States on a secondary missile defense treaty needed only few more days to be concluded. The Czech-US missile defense deal is based on two treaties, both of which need parliamentary approval. The Czech government has already approved the main bilateral treaty allowing the US to build a radar base near Prague. The second, "complementary," treaty deals such issues as taxes and the legal status of US soldiers to be deployed at the base. The Polish government has agreed to place interceptor missiles on its territory as part of the system.
