Eccentric opposition lawmaker elected as new London mayor

Election officers say eccentric opposition lawmaker Boris Johnson is London's new mayor after he ousted governing Labor's Ken Livingstone.
Johnson's victory on Friday crowns an impressive set of results for the Conservative in local elections held Thursday in England and Wales.
The municipal ballots have dealt a heavy blow to British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. His Labor party lost London's City Hall, over 300 local council seats and was third placed in a projected share of votes.
Brown must call a national election by mid-2010.
