Egypt declared Monday that it would continue to supply electricity to the Gaza Strip. The announcement followed a European Union decision to suspend fuel payments to the Gaza power plant out of suspicion that some electricity revenues could be going to Hamas. "No one is permitted to deny the Palestinians the right to basic needs and Egypt is obligated to provide them," read a statement by Egyptian Foreign Ministry.
