Chancellor Angela Merkel's office says the German government wants to host a conference in Berlin this summer to focus on the situation of the Palestinians. Those invited would include EU representative Tony Blair. A brief statement released by Merkel's office says she and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas talked about the planned event by phone on Friday and that he would welcome such a meeting.
