The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency called Monday on Iran and six leading nations to abandon confrontation and start talks over Tehran's contentious nuclear program.
Mohamed El-Baradei called for "every effort" to return to negotiations over Iran's defiance of a UN Security Council demand that Tehran suspend uranium enrichment - a possible pathway to nuclear arms. He said the "window of opportunity" was shrinking to reach a negotiated solution to the standoff.
