India: 12 children drown after boat capsizes

At least 12 children drowned Tuesday and dozens more were missing after a boat carrying children on a school trip capsized in the southern India state of Kerala, local media reports said. The boat was carrying 103 students and staff down the Periyar River near the Thattekkad bird sanctuary when it capsized, Press Trust of India news agency reported. CNN-IBN television reported that at least 44 children were still missing.
