Indonesian air force place goes missing with 18 people onboard

A military spokesman says an Indonesian air force plane has gone missing with 5 crew and 13 passengers on board, including several foreigners. Air force spokesman Chaeruddin Ray said Friday that an Indian and Singaporean were on the passenger list. A search is under way at Salak Mountain, about 100 kilometers south of Jakarta, but Ray says "nothing has been found yet." The Casa-212 military aircraft disappeared during an aerial surveillance mission Thursday. Indonesia has seen a spate of airline accidents in recent years, including an Adam Air crash that killed 102 and another involving the national carrier Garuda that killed 21, leading the EU to ban all Indonesian airlines.
