Iran hanged 12 criminals Sunday who had been convicted of various charges, including rape, kidnapping and drug trafficking, the Web site of the state broadcasting company reported. "Their death sentence was implemented early this morning," the Web site quoted Saeed Mortazi, Tehran's chief prosecutor, as saying. "Numerous instances of kidnapping, rape . . . trading hundreds of kilograms of narcotics were among the charges." The report did not provide the names or nationalities of those executed.
