Iran will allow an American woman to travel to Teheran to get information about her husband, a former FBI agent, who was last seen at a resort island off the country's southern coast, the Foreign Ministry said Sunday.
"A visa was granted to her and there will be no problem for her presence in Teheran," ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini said. He said he did not have information about exactly when Christine Levinson planned to arrive in Iran and what her schedule would be while here.
The US State Department has said that she planned to visit Teheran this month to press the Iranian government about her husband's case. She has said she would travel with her 22-year-old son, Daniel, to Teheran in mid-December and would stay about one week. Hosseini did not mention her son in his comments.
