Nobel winner faults UNHRC, but says too early to shut it down

The UN's top human rights body has performed poorly since it was created almost two years ago, Nobel Prize winner Shirin Ebadi said Monday. But the Iranian lawyer said it was too early to abandon the UN Human Rights Council because it remains a final resort for many victims of abuse. "Even though it has not performed well... we should be coming up with solutions on how this trend can be reversed and the council can indeed become effective," Ebadi told journalists in Geneva.
