Official: Coalition airstrike kills 8 Afghans

Afghan officials say a coalition airstrike in eastern Afghanistan has killed eight Afghan soldiers and wounded four others. Gen. Mohammad Zahir Azimi says the soldiers were hit early Wednesday in Sayed Kheil area of Khost province. Azimi is a spokesman for the Defense Ministry. Arsallah Jamal, the governor of Khost province, says the troops were inside a checkpoint when the airstrike hit them. The NATO-led force could not confirm the strike, but says it is checking the report.
