Prime Minister Ehud Olmert addressed for the first time Sunday his meeting in the UK last week with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Olmert told the cabinet that "if, in fact, Israeli planes penetrated Turkish air space [during a September 6 strike on a suspected Syrian nuclear site], there was no premeditated intention… to harm or call into question Turkey's sovereignty, which we respect." Olmert added that he had apologized to the Turkish government and to the Turkish people if any harm had been done.
