Pakistan: One soldier killed, several wounded in gun battles

Guerrillas with rockets and assault rifles attacked two military posts in northwestern Pakistan before dawn Tuesday triggering gun battles that left at least one soldier dead and several wounded, officials said. The first attack happened near the village of Data Khel. One soldier died and three were wounded, a local intelligence official said. Gunmen also attacked paramilitary forces in Swat, where Islamic operatives recently have stepped up attacks against security forces. Six security personnel were wounded, said two other officials.
