Pakistan militant leader kills self to avoid jail

A former Guantanamo Bay inmate who lead pro-Taliban militants in Pakistan after his release died Tuesday when he blew himself up with a grenade to avoid arrest, police said. "My information is that Abdullah Mehsud killed himself," said Atta Mohammed, police chief in the southwestern town of Zhob. "Thanks be to God that only he was blown up and our men were safe."
