A guerrilla leader says Muslim rebels will comply with a Philippine government ultimatum to vacate nine southern villages and avoid confrontation with military forces.
Moro Islamic Liberation Front Vice Chairman Ghazali Jaafar said the agreement was reached late Thursday in a meeting of a joint cease-fire committee, ahead of the Friday morning deadline for the rebels to withdraw forces from Christian farms in North Cotabato province.
