Police: Jamaican soldier kills 4 in nightclub

Police said a drunken Jamaican soldier has killed four people and injured three others by firing into a crowd at a nightclub. A police statement said a 31-year-old corporal with the Jamaica Defense Force opened fire early Monday in the Double Diamond nightclub in Kingston after arguing with a woman. He later shot and injured himself. Eyewitnesses reported that the off-duty soldier left the club after the dispute, but returned shortly afterward and fired randomly into the nightclub with a pistol. Police said four men were killed. Authorities did not immediately disclose the identity of the soldier, who was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries from two bullets.
