Polish President Lech Kaczynski was unwavering Friday in his support of a deal with the US that will see American missiles in his country, even though its announcement sparked threats by a top Russian general that Poland had exposed itself to attack. Kaczynski's praise of the deal came during celebrations that included tanks and more than 1,200 soldiers rolling down a Warsaw avenue in a military parade to mark Army Day. The holiday honors a rare victory by the country, dubbed the Miracle on the Vistula, when it beat back Russian Bolsheviks in 1920. Speaking before the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Kaczynski, long a forceful advocate of the missile defense deal, said of the planned missile defense battery in Poland: "Simply the existence of this installation increases Poland's security."
