Report: Iran hangs 8 men convicted of murder and rape

A state-owned newspaper says that Iran has hanged eight men convicted of murder and rape. The hangings brought to some 63 the number of people executed in Iran since the beginning of the year. In its report Thursday, the IRAN daily says the eight were executed on Wednesday at the Evin prison just north of the Iranian capital, Teheran. Details of the crimes the eight were sentenced for were not disclosed. The report said six of the convicts were under the age of 34.
