Report: Kurdish rebels kidnap local Turkish politician

Kurdish rebels have kidnapped a provincial official of the ruling party in eastern Turkey, the Turkish news agency Dogan reported Monday. Police special forces backed by helicopters were searching for Ali Askin, who was seized at gunpoint by two members of the PKK group in Tunceli province on Sunday evening. Askin, 37, is a member of the Tunceli executive committee of the Justice and Development Party. He is married with two children. Dogan said Monday that Askin was in a sand quarry near Gulec village when the kidnappers surprised him.
