Report: Passenger train derails in India; 40 hurt

Ten coaches of a passenger train derailed in western India early Friday, injuring at least 40 people, 15 of them seriously, news reports said. The accident occurred near the town of Navapur, nearly 300 kilometers (200 miles) northeast of Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra state, the Press Trust of India news agency said. The Times Now television news channel said rescuers have taken the injured to nearby hospitals. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
