Reports: Abkhazia says gunfire exchanged near border with Georgia

Tensions between Georgia and the separatist republic have escalated in recent weeks amid mutual accusations that each side was preparing military action. According to Interfax, the representative of the Abkhazian separatist president in the province's southern region, Ruslan Kishmaria, said Wednesday that Abkhazia's border guards reported the gunfire broke out on territory controlled by Georgia.
