Russia: Attempt to smuggle WMD know-how thwarted

Russia's customs service said Friday it had thwarted an attempt to smuggle sensitive documents related to the production of weapons of mass destruction out of Russia. A terse statement posted by the Federal Customs Service said officials at its branch in the Ural Mountains region had launched an inquiry into an attempt to export 28 technical documents and reports. It said an inquiry was launched into the illegal export of information related to mass destruction weapons. The statement did not give any further information about the case, and an official at the agency refused to comment.
