S. Korean fishing boat capsizes after collision, 1 dead, 2 missing

A collision between two fishing boats off South Korea's southern coast left one person dead and two others missing Sunday after one of the vessels capsized, Coast Guard officials said. Another fisherman was rescued after the pre-dawn accident when a 6.7-ton vessel was hit by a 29-ton fishing boat in waters about 39 kilometers east of Pyoseon, a town on the southern resort island of Jeju, said Coast Guard official Hong Jin-ki. Two fishermen were picked up in the icy waters by the 29-ton vessel after the accident, but one later died at a hospital, said Kim Sang-woo, another Coast Guard official. The survivor, Kim Hong-seok, sustained no life-threatening injuries and was in stable condition at the hospital.
