Serbia to seek extradition of alleged ex-Nazi

Serbia's war crimes prosecutor says he plans to seek the extradition of an American who allegedly served in a Nazi unit that killed 17,000 civilians here during World War II. Vladimir Vukcevic says that his investigators have been gathering information about Peter Egner, a native of Yugoslavia now living in the US, in order to try him in Serbia. He says a formal investigation against the 86-year-old Egner will start in the next few days. Last month, the US Justice Department asked a federal court to revoke Egner's American citizenship, saying he had served in Serbia as a guard and interpreter with the Nazis from 1941 to 1943.
