Trial exposes network of terror camps in UK countryside
By JERUSALEM POST STAFF
A British court has convicted four men of organizing or attending terrorism training camps in the English countryside, court officials said Tuesday. Three others pleaded guilty.
Prosecutors said the would-be Islamic militants hoped to carry out scores of attacks in Britain. The men practiced weapons training and rehearsed beheadings with watermelons, prosecutors said.
One group of camp recruits later made a failed attempt to bomb London's transit network on July 21, 2005. Two weeks earlier, suicide bombers killed 52 commuters in attacks on the subway system and a bus.
