Turkish warplanes bomb northern Iraq, targeting Kurdish rebels

The Turkish military said its warplanes bombed a Kurdish rebel hideout in northern Iraq on Monday. The military reported that the warplanes bombed the Avasin Basyan region of northern Iraq. It was the second such attack in northern Iraq since rebels killed 15 Turkish soldiers in an attack on Friday. The military said in a statement that all warplanes returned safely to their bases and that precautions were taken to avoid civilian casualties.
