Turkish warplanes hit Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq

The Turkish military said its warplanes attacked Kurdish rebels in Iraq's north. The military said Tuesday that the warplanes attacked rebel targets in Zab region and Qandil Mountain where rebel leaders are based. It said many of a 40-strong rebel group outside a cave at Mount Qandil were killed in the attack. The attacks came two days after bombings in Istanbul killed 17 people, which the government blamed on Kurdish rebels.
