Typhoon Nuri approaches Hong Kong after triggering Philippines fatalities

Typhoon Nuri moved toward Hong Kong on Friday after triggering destruction in the Philippines that killed seven people. The Hong Kong Observatory said in a statement at 9 a.m. (0100 GMT), Nuri was 150 kilometers southeast (93 miles) of the territory, forecast to move northwest. It said the typhoon may hit Hong Kong directly later Friday. The typhoon brought strong winds to Hong Kong, shutting offices, schools, financial markets and canceling flights. No major destruction was reported as of early Friday.
