As a result of the overnight violence in Gaza, the British Foreign Secretary, Margaret Beckett, has expressed her serious concern. "I am seriously concerned about the violence in Gaza," Beckett said in a statement. "Continued violence is in no-one's interest, and I am deeply saddened by the loss of innocent lives and the number of people injured. We want to see the legally-constituted security forces restore order. We continue to support President Abbas's efforts for intra-Palestinian reconciliation and hope that all parties will exercise restraint and work together for peace."
