US: 6-nation N. Korean nuclear talks could be renewed next week

A US official said Monday that envoys representing six nations at North Korean nuclear disarmament talks could meet as early as next week in China. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the meeting has not yet been announced officially, said the hope is for diplomats from the North and South Korea, the United States, Japan, Russia and China to gather in the middle of next week in Beijing. On Friday, North Korea blew up part of its Yongbyon nuclear reactor in an attempt to show the world its intention to stop making nuclear bombs.
