US, France near deal on Lebanon cease-fire

The US and France are are nearing completion of a UN resolution calling for a lasting cease-fire in Lebanon, the US State Department said Friday. US President George W. Bush and UN Secretary General Kofi Annan discussed the situation in Lebanon by telephone Friday night.
