US Navy ends search for 3 missing aviators

The US Navy ended its search for three missing aviators Friday and declared them people dead after their twin-engine radar plane crashed off North Carolina's coast Wednesday night. Search crews found plane debris but no bodies, said Mike Maus, a spokesman with the Atlantic Fleet Naval Air Force. He did not elaborate. Further details, including names of the aviators, were not immediately released. The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
