US Senate okays more war funding as Dems try to force an end to conflict

Powerless in their effort to bring US troops home from Iraq, Senate Democrats helped pass a defense policy bill Monday that would authorize another $150 billion for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The 92-3 vote came as the House of Representatives planned to approve separate legislation Tuesday that would require that President George W. Bush give Congress a plan for eventual troop withdrawals.
