United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan was pressing Iran on Wednesday to respond promptly to the incentive package that it received from the permanent members of the UN Security Council in return for halting its nuclear program. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said recently that his country would respond by August 20, though the world powers that issued the package insisted the response be given before that time.
