Former-Iranian president urges Christians and Muslims to work together

Former Iranian President Mohammad Khatami on Saturday said Christians and Muslims should work together to help rid the world of cruelty and injustice. Khatami said more than half the world's population embraces either Christianity or Islam, so they should combine forces to promote peace and understanding. Khatami was Iran's president in 1997-2005. He was speaking Saturday at a conference on inter-religious dialogue at the Vienna Academy of Sciences. Outside dozens of people from the anti-nuclear group Stop the Bomb demonstrated.
