Revolutionary Guards chief warns if Iranians appear patient with enemies' plots and pressures, "this is just the calm before storm."

The chief of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards on Friday warned that if the nation's enemies continued plotting against it, they would launch a tidal wave of resistance.
Gen. Mohammed Ali Jafari spoke on the anniversary of the founding of the Basij paramilitary force and during a particularly tense period of relations between Iran and the West, largely due to the Islamic Republic's nuclear program.
"The ocean of the Iranian nation may sometimes look calm but if it becomes stormy it will create tsunamis," he told worshippers before a Friday prayer ceremony on the Teheran University campus.
"Enemies should know that if the Iranian nation appears patient with their plots and pressures, this is just the calm before storm," he said. "If the supreme leader orders, Basij members are ready to respond to all enemy plots."
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has final say on all state matters in Iran.
The United States has said it is pursuing diplomatic options with Teheran for now, but has not ruled out military action as a way to halt the country's nuclear program which it claims is a cover for developing weapons - a charge Iran denies.
Earlier this month, Iran said it stepped up uranium enrichment by fully running 3,000 centrifuges at its nuclear plant in the central city of Natanz, which experts say could produce enough material for a weapon in a year and a half if that was the intent.
The facility is currently under IAEA observation.
