Iranians welcome Obama as sign of Bush defeat

Iranians have welcomed Barack Obama's victory as the next US president as a triumph over the unpopular policies of President George W. Bush. Iran's official news agency quotes prominent Iranian lawmaker Gholam Ali Haddad Adel as saying the Democratic candidate's win over Republican John McCain is evidence Americans are fed up with Bush and his party. Bush has repeatedly clashed with Iranian leaders over Iran's nuclear program and its opposition to the war in Iraq.
