Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki arrived in Ankara on a surprise visit Tuesday for talks on a forthcoming conference on Iraq, Turkish officials said.
Mottaki met with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul during the visit that was not announced beforehand.
No announcement was made after either of the meetings but a Turkish Foreign Ministry official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said talks centered on events in Iraq and a conference on Iraq that is scheduled to be held in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheik on May 3-4.
