Italian Premier Romano Prodi was set to meet with Iran's top nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani, on Friday, a day before planned talks with the EU over Tehran's nuclear dossier.
Larijani, coming from Spain, was expected to meet Prodi at the premier's office in Rome to discuss the international standoff with Iran over its refusal to halt uranium enrichment.
The Lebanon crisis and Iran's role in the region were also expected to be on the agenda.
