Reports: Bush to announce renewal of US diplomatic relations with Iran

According to several US medial reports, US President George W. Bush will likely announce that he means to renew diplomatic relations with Iran after the US Presidential elections.
The diplomatic sources apparently told media outlets that the US president's decision to announce his intentions only after the elections would stop the issues from becoming part of the presidential race.
The Jerusalem Post could not confirm the reports.
Iran and the US have not had diplomatic relations for over thirty years.
